An important part of East Tennessee Heart Consultants' care is helping you return to the activities you enjoy. You’ll find knowledgeable, caring professionals who are dedicated to supporting you throughout your recovery.
East Tennessee Heart Consultants offers a heart and vascular recovery program that combines education, support and exercise therapy. You will learn how to incorporate heart-healthy habits such as a proper diet, exercise and stress management techniques that can lead to a better quality of life:
- Focus on recovery – Cardiac rehabilitation support begins in the hospital, following a heart attack or other acute illness. Before you leave the hospital, you will learn about your disease and risk factors that contribute to heart disease. You’ll know what to expect during and after recovery, and receive home-exercise recommendations.
- Exercise counseling and support – Patients begin a medically supervised, monitored exercise program that includes individual support from exercise professionals. Once monitoring is no longer necessary, you will continue with a customized exercise program and learn how to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle.
- Heart-healthy lifestyle changes – Throughout the cardiac rehabilitation program, you will know how to lead a healthier lifestyle by learning about good nutrition, stress management techniques and how to incorporate these behaviors into your lifestyle. During the maintenance phase of rehabilitation, continued education helps reinforce healthy habits long term.
- Individual support – Health educators, exercise professionals, nutritionists and other cardiac rehabilitation specialists are caring professionals who provide support and education throughout the recovery process. The team is a dedicated group of individuals who are focused on your recovery.
